Alimah was introduced to belly dance in 2001 and since has won many awards, including Belly Dance Nationals National Champion 2009, Shimmilicious Soloist Champion 2009, Lillies of the Valley Professional as well as Professional Challenge Winner 2008, Belly Dancer USA 2005, and Double Crown Performing Artist 2004. She now performs arabic music as the violinist in Saltana Band, joining musicians Michael Nageub of Egypt, Anton of Jordan, and Chandra of Spain. She travels nationally and internationally, studying dance and performing in shows. She was featured as the cover dancer for Jareeda Magazine, and as the Centerfold Dancer for The Belly Dancer Magazine. She currently teaches workshops, private lessons, and dances at Petra Bistro, Shalimar, and Marrakesh Moroccan Restaurant, where she is also the entertainment coordinator.

Before her obsession with dance began, Alimah spent years playing violin in professional orchestras across the country. She holds a Masters in Music from Yale University, and has taught violin workshops around the northwest. She draws on her background as a musician to develop practice and performance strategies, as well as to understand phrasing and compositional technique.

It gives her great joy to share her passion for middle eastern dance and music with audiences across the country.
